Resident Dronfield SNT September Newsletter / September Engagements Shop theft update; The hard work continues with our local stores in relation reported shop thefts in our stores especially CO-OP’s and Sainsbury’s. We are incredibly pleased to share that since our last newsletter we are committed to working hard to bring people to justice for this type of crime. The latest person responsible has recently been charged and received a custodial sentence. Martin Hunter, 36 of Sheffield Road, Sheffield was charged with 9 different counts of Shop Theft and was remanded in custody overnight. He appeared the following day at South Derbyshire Magistrates Court and was found guilty of all 9 offences. He received a custodial sentence for these thefts of 11 months. Hunter was also previously subject to a 12-month suspended sentence which was imposed by South Yorkshire Magistrates Court on the 21st January 2026. This sentence was activated due to his further offending.
He was sentenced in total to 1 Year, 10 Months and 29 Days.
PC Cremin also applied to have Hunter be subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order which was granted by the court at Parking Concerns / Information
Dronfield SNT wanted to remind parents and carers as we start to think about a new school year following the summer holiday to consider the following information.
Do Not
❙ Stop or park near a school entrance and keep off school keep clear markings
❙ Double Park to pick up or drop off children from vehicles.
❙ Park in such a position that buses, the emergency services and other commercial vehicles are unable to pass.
❙ Park where a bus stop is clearly defined either by road markings or an actual shelter.
Do
❙ Observe in force parking restrictions that may apply.
❙ Consider parking further away from the school.
